South Shropshire Academy Trust is a Multi Academy Trust serving the needs of children in South Shropshire.

In April 2013 Church Stretton School converted to an Academy taking advantage of the Government’s initiative to allow “good” or “outstanding” schools to convert their status. Since this date the school has been an independent state school which is non-selective and non-fee paying.

The school converted to an Academy as part of a Multi Academy Trust with a view to sponsoring other schools in the future. In November 2014 Stokesay Primary School converted to an Academy with Governors naming the secondary school as the preferred sponsor. As a result as of November 2014 the Multi Academy Trust has consisted of two schools.

Since forming the MAT both schools have continued to thrive and the MAT is committed, through its development plan, to further expansion in the future.
